Summer Fun - Week 8

Summer Fun - Week 8

My sister and I decided we are going to finish out the summer with a bang, and are packing a TON of things into it.  So, prepare yourself for major overload these last two weeks!  However, I FINALLY figured out a quick way to make a picture collage, rather than post a million pictures that take forever to load and scroll through.  You're welcome.

This week we; Celebrated my Parent's 35th Anniversary, went to the Hill AFB Museum, made a Music Video, went to Rocket Park in Bountiful, Baked Cookies...again...but this week they were a different kind,  went to the Splash Pad, found a "Red Carpet Fashion Runway" set at Kid to Kid and put on a Fashion Show, enjoyed a free Concert in the Park put on by Wasatch District Pipe Band (which our awesome aunt/sister-in-law Sara plays the tenor drums for...she is the star of the show), went and had fun at Liberty Park, got Brielle and Claire's Ears Pierced, went Back to School Shopping, stopped by a Book Launch party for a friend who just got her first book published!  Check it out HERE...and buy it...you won't regret it.  We then finished off the week by going to the Brigham City Temple Open House.

Phew...what a week!  It definitely went by FAST though, which is nice.

Parent's 35th Anniversary
We were able to get together with just the adults and have a dinner to celebrate at Ben and Sara's house.  It was SO fun.  Not that we don't love our kids, but without that distraction we were able to just laugh and talk. We also surprised my parents with a picture of the Mesa Temple (the temple they were married in) that we had personalized...my mom totally cried (SCORE!).

Hill AFB Museum
It is always so fun to see the HUGE planes and helicopters.  The kids liked trying to find what uniform Uncle Marty would have worn in the display of uniforms, and most importantly they just enjoyed being together.

Music Video
The girls were inspired by my sister's in-law's who did a music video with their kids.  So, we cranked up Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger", made them up like rock stars, and went to town.  They directed, choreographed and chose all the effects for the entire thing...which at times was hard for me to just let go.  But it needed to be something fun for them, not a professional video. :)
Enjoy!

Splash Pad

We were the only ones there (because we went at about 5 p.m.) and the kids had SO much fun.  The inventor of the splash pad is pure genius!

"Red Carpet Fashion Runway"
I cannot emphasize enough how incredible of a find this was at Kid to Kid.  It's a giant pop up tent (seriously, giant) with a red runway and a sign that says "Fashion Show" on the top.  AWESOME!  My kids and their cousins are OBSESSED with doing fashion shows....every time they get together. My girls can't wait for the cousins to come over and have fun with them.

Concert in the Park
This was such a fun little outing to go support Sara.  Unfortunately by the time her awesome self came out on stage, it was dark and my camera wasn't cutting it.  So...the picture of the pipe band does not have her in it....but let me tell you what, she rocks those drums! We laughed pretty hard when Ben won a raffle basket that his mother-in-law had put his name in for, it was too awesome.  I also loved looking over and seeing him tease Claire.  I just wouldn't have it any other way!

Liberty Park
I was unsure about going to this activity...because I hate Salt Lake.  Yep.  I said it.  But it was a lot of fun.  They have an amazing water feature that is a replica of the Salt Lake Valley.  The kids loved exploring the "canyons" and playing in the "Great Salt Lake".

Pierced Ears/Back to School Shopping
The girls thought the mall was pretty amazing (we don't get out much) and loved shopping and going out to dinner (At IHOP...their choice).  Neither of them made a peep while getting their ears pierced, just sat there straight faced until it was done, and then smiled and walked away.  It's fun to have my little buddies!

Brigham City Temple Open House
We tried getting tickets a couple weeks ago, and there were none available...then on a whim I checked on Wednesday of this week, and there were a lot of days opened up, so we jumped on it and went Saturday evening to the 8:30 session with the older three girls. It is a beautiful temple, and I'm hoping it will become a wonderful memory - and that some of the "upheavals" in the evening will fade.  Although, I'm pretty sure all Addison will remember is the bus ride from the parking lot to the temple.  It's all she talked about the whole way home.
I did not take this picture...therefore I deserve no credit for it.

One jam-packed week down, one more to go!

Summer Fun - Week 7

Summer Fun - Week 7
This week, my girls got to go with my mom, sister and cousins to Mueller Park (while I stayed home with Addison and Molly who were sleeping...sometimes trying to line up schedules is ridiculous), we then returned that favor and took the cousins with us to Another Park.  We Made Cookies, went to the Davis County Fair, Me and my mom took the four oldest girl cousins to a Katie Armiger Concert at the Fair (a friend had four free tickets they didn't need...so I jumped at the chance!), and then ended the week by going to the Ogden Nature Center.  With all of these fun activities, came a LOT of pictures...so sit back and enjoy!
(As always, if you click on a picture it brings them up bigger to scroll through...for you Grandma's who may want to see these cute faces up closer.)

Mueller Park

Davis County Fair
The main reason they wanted to be there...the kids (and Grandma) sat on the bleachers watching while I held our place in line with Molly (who was an angel baby and just hung out in the stroller!).

Cadence, Joel and Claire waiting
The lighting inside this little "barn" thing was awful.  My flash would sometimes work, and sometimes think it didn't need to, so this is one of the few good pictures I got of kids actually on a horse.
After the rides were done...they had fun (contrary to the look on Addison's face...she was just mad she couldn't keep riding).
Petting zoo with Grandma...I had to stay out with the stroller.

Inside the "Bunny Barn" admiring all the bunnies.

Katie Armiger Concert
We (my mother and I) took the older 4 girls...and it was pretty fun.  Before the concert, the kids rode a couple of carnival rides.  They all rode the little "roller coaster" together, and then split off.  Brielle insisted on riding the "Sizzler"...but that meant I had to go on it with her, because it was one of those wild rides.  I just about threw up, but she LOVED it.  The other girls went on a milder ride while we tried to keep hold on the contents of our stomach.
Riding the roller coaster.
Note that there are no pictures of the other ride...like I mentioned before, I was too busy trying to keep things down.

Anyway, after that, we went and got our seats.  The warm-up band/girl was...okay.  Cute, and young, and slightly boring.  There was a long wait for Katie to actually appear, but she was much better, and the girls had a fun time.
Cool girls waiting for the concert
We said "serious face" meaning not crazy...Cadence took the "serious" quite literal however.
Crazy faces!
Cute girls...STILL waiting for the concert to start
FINALLY, the main attraction

Ogden Nature Center
The EXTRA bonus to this, was that we went on Saturday...which during the summer, Saturday's are FREE!  Of course I would find that out on one of the last Saturday's of the summer, but hey...at least we got to take advantage of it at least once!
At the entrance with all my girls...I decided maybe there should be record of me existing.
On the path to the visitor's center are TONS of awesome bird houses.

Addison showing us her "scary turtle" face.
The girls were sure this turkey was following us, it was everywhere we turned...so maybe it really was following us.
Showing their "scary bird" faces
Molly just chillin' in the stroller...such a good baby!
Marty had them pose patriotic in front of the bald eagle

The free craft we happened to be there to do
Molly LOVED the fish

Phew!  This was a BIG week!  Two more weeks to go and we're back to school!
