Addison cuddling up against me on the couch:
"Mom, you feel like my pillow. And that is really soft.....and squishy!"
Um.....thank you?

Me: Guess how many numbers are in infinity.
Claire: Uh.....
Addison: 132!!!!!

Addison: Why do I talk so fast sometimes?
Claire: Because other times you talk slow and so you need to catch up with your words.
I guess rather than a pedometer, they need a word counter to make sure they get all their allotted words in each day.

I took the older three girls to a rodeo during the summer. While we were there, I told them we have professional bull riders in our family, and Claire says excitedly:
"Is that why I'm so good at twirling a baton!?"
I think she has rodeo and circus confused.

Claire: Why did you even lock that door at night?
Me: Just for safety.
Addison: Yeah, because a bandit could come in our gate and through our door and band our house.
Claire: He wouldn't band our house.
Addison: Well a bandit would come and steal the children. Is that what you want, a bandit from another world to come in our house? So why WOULDN'T she lock the door at night?
I'm just keeping them safe from bandits banding the house. It's what a good mom does

Brielle: Watch my cool trick. I could break my arm, or even die doing this!
Claire: {excitedly} If you don't survive, I'll be the oldest!

Molly: Mom! Look at the top of your head...it's turning gray!!
When your 3 year old, who doesn't even notice a ladder in front of her face, is noticing the gray hair popping up, you know it's bad.

I found a paper on my desk written by my kids and their cousins with a list of their "secrets". They range from 'I think a guy that likes me is a weirdo' to 'I'm afraid to sing in public'. But the winner is Addison's secret:
"I think that meatballs look funny."
************************************************
Addison: Mom, when are you going to color your hair?
Me: I don't know, maybe this week.
Addison: OK good, because I can see a big chunk of gray right there.
Me: . . . thanks for noticing.
She's sure helpful!

My 11 year old niece's comments after being here with my mom for a few days while I went to girls camp:
"I used to think my mom was just being annoying when she got upset about us being loud or stuff like that. But now I get it. My head hurt so bad by the end of the first day and I was so tired."
"Brody was the easiest of them all. He's really loud, but he's the only one that didn't fight with people. I think I spent the whole time breaking up fights."
I'm pretty sure she's super glad she came
************************************************
Addison: Mom, I'm so glad you had Brody. He is so cute! I would be so sad if you didn't have him!
Claire: I bet you can't guess who my favorite brother is.
Addison: Brody?
Claire: I bet you can't guess who mom and dad's favorite son is.
Addison: Brody?

One night I was standing with Molly and Brody, waiting to pick the older girls up from a summer gymnastics class they were doing when I feel something wet dripping on my foot...I look down and realize somehow the way I'm holding Brody has his diaper all sideways, and pee is streaming down his legs, off his feet and hitting my feet. So...that happened. Life is sure glamorous sometimes.

Addison: "Mom, am I on your side or dad's side of the family?"
************************************************
Addison: Mom, I really want to go to Sunbeams [church class for 3-4 year olds].
Me: But you're not a Sunbeam anymore, that's for younger kids.
Addison: But I REALLY want to. I like it better, they do fun stuff. And they probably really miss me.
Me: They probably do, but your other class will miss you if you don't go.
Addison: *thinking for a minute* But mom, it's like the song says, Jesus WANTS me for a Sunbeam.
Guess I can't argue with that. I think we have a future lawyer on our hands.

Addison: I can't wait to grow up. I can tell my kids what to do. I can go to your house whenever I want. I can skip work and make my husband do the work while I go on vacation and tell my kids to just clean up. Yeah, that's the kind of mom I'm going to be.
************************************************
Brielle: You look tired mom.
Me: Yeah, it was a rough night, Brody and Molly are both sick and were both up a bunch.
Brielle: And you have something black under your eye.
Me: That's just my makeup, I guess it smudged. (didn't have a chance to wash it off before bed)
Brielle: You look scary like that.
Me: Thank you Brielle, you've been so very helpful.
Me: Thank you Brielle, you've been so very helpful.

"My favorite thing about California is when we left!" Me too kid...me too.

"It was so funny when he fre-....wait....is it froke? He froked out? No...wait..."
After Marty and I had a good laugh, we explained that the English language is just weird.
************************************************
Brielle: "I'm not your personal calculator."
************************************************
"And THEN I had to take another test because I scored SO HIGH on my first one, so they wanted to test me even more! And tests are SO BORING!"
Being smart is such a drag!
************************************************
Addison was following Brielle around, just to bug her. Brielle kept saying, "Stop following me, Addison!" Finally Addison stopped and sat down on the couch. Brielle walked into another room, and Molly says to Addison, "Addison...go follow Brielle. You are very sneaky! You have to follow her, you are so sneaky!" She kept egging Addison on, trying to get her to keep following Brielle. Such a little pot stirrer.
************************************************
I was playing around with Molly and said: "Put it away...or you WILL PAY!" Addison quickly piped in: "Nu-uh-, she won't even pay...she doesn't even have any money!"
