The Insanity of Insanity

Do you ever have an INCREDIBLY brilliant idea that quickly turns INCREDIBLY stupid?

Yep...enter my brilliant stupid idea:

Me and Marty are literally going to be going through Insanity for the next 60 days.

Being overly optimistic and full of myself, I jumped out of the starting gates today, ready to begin day one.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that day one was only the fitness test, and that you needed to complete it before beginning the Insanity (duh, duh, duh.....)

H.O.L.Y C.R.A.P.    People.  I almost DIED.  Right there on my living room rug!

I almost had to have my 3 year old draw a chalk outline of me.

Here lies my mom.

She died of Insanity.

How in the world did a 25 minute "fitness test" make me want to vomit, pass out and die all at the same time?  I do not know.  But it did.  And it wasn't even the real workout!

Does anyone else see the HUGE problem with this?

I am starting to feel a little less than confident about what the next 60 days has in store for me.

If you don't hear from me for a while, you may want to send for help.

Kid Funnies + Updated Pictures

 Brielle
While eating a ring pop:  "Mom, this is not just a treat, it's a plunger of my breath!  When I put it in my mouth, it stops my breath from coming out!"

I bent over to pick something up, and apparently was showing a little cleavage (oops).  Then I heard Brielle: "Ewww...why do you have another bum on your chest?!"

Eating dinner one night, Brielle burped.  Before we could say anything, she quickly said:
"Yep, that's a sign the tank is full!"

Claire
I sometimes wish we could just have a little video camera constantly on her, because you never know what you'll get out of her.

Sitting quietly at lunch one afternoon, Claire looks up from her sandwich:
"If we kick someone in the neck, we would be in super huge trouble!"
Me, a little stunned: "Uh, yeah, you sure would be."
Claire: "So, let's not do that then."
Me: "Good idea."

Sitting at the doctor's office with Addison, the room was quiet while the doctor was typing something.
Claire taps me on the shoulder:
"Mom, why didn't you choose to name me Gorgeous?"

Another quiet afternoon at lunch:
"Mom, when I'm a teenager, I think I will be able to draw a treasure chest."

Driving in the car after dropping Brielle off at school, Claire can see me in the rear view mirror:
"Mom, your forehead looks like a bum."

 Addison
A giant stinker in a tiny package.
Her new favorite past-times include:
Dumping out the ENTIRE drawer of hair elastics

Throwing stuff in the toilet while you're distracted picking up the hair elastics

Tackling Claire.

Climbing on the ottoman and couch

Throwing stuff

Climbing...period

Visit from the Tooth Fairy

The big "event" finally occurred.  Brielle lost her first tooth!

It has been doing that nasty thing where they just barely dangle on by a corner, because the child is too scared.  But I finally convinced her to let me pull it out.

Because she was afraid and kept jerking her head away when I'd touch it, we had her lay on the couch with her head on my lap and hold Marty's hand.  Before she could got get out any complaints, I had the tooth out and she was THRILLED.

She was hoping the tooth fairy would turn her tooth into a kid car (Power Wheel).

I told her fat chance (using kinder words).

So she said, "Okay, maybe a rocking horse."

I told her there's no way those things would fit under her pillow.  She said she wouldn't mind her pillow being lumpy and having to lay funny for one night.

The Tooth Fairy left her $1.

She was THRILLED!

Kids are funny like that.

Living Room Re-Do: Part II - The FINAL Product

Phew...that was fun (in a strange, had to work harder than expected, way!)

We have had the same living room furniture/decor for basically our entire marriage.  And while I realize that isn't really a big deal, I get antsy and like change (in small forms...no more huge change would be fine with me).  New throw pillows, new picture frames, stuff like that.  But this year, it was finally time to go BIG with the changes to the living room. As a family of 5, we no longer all fit on our one couch, (or at our dining table...but for now the baby is in a high chair, so we make it work) our TV was starting to get fuzzy lines going through the screen (what do you expect from a SWEET 27" old tube tv?), my throw pillows were starting to come apart at the seems...and since I'm such a seamstress I didn't do anything about it, and basically everything was just starting to feel worn out.

So...I changed it all!  YEAH!  We sold, bargain hunted, exchanged, rearranged and bought.  And our living room is now complete.

So I went back to when I had taken pictures of the living room when we first moved here and tried to take the after pictures from the same spot in the room. Unfortunately it's been GLOOMY around here, so the lighting isn't good.  I did my best to do a quick brightening of them with a photo editor, but it's the best I can do.

So...I give you the transformation!

(This isn't in the same spot in the room anymore, but this is the new entertainment center...boy did my husband get SPOILED.  He's lucky he found such a ridiculous deal on this stuff.) The lighting is TERRIBLE in this picture, it's a dark hole of a corner.

A better shot of our sectional that we are LOVING!

And a close up of my crazy pillow that I fell in love with and got.

We're loving it!  The couch is great, although everyone still tends to congregate on top of each other near the chaise lounge part.  The TV is a HUGE improvement from our old one, although even with the size of it the kids still sit right up close.  It just feels nice to have a "big change".
