The Girl Formerly Known as Claire, Part II.

I thought I would update you all on this post about Claire...I mean Elizabeth, or Elibeth...whatever. (She just completely leaves out the ZA.  She still does the same emphasis on the syllables, just skips over that one.)

A few hours after she first announced she was "Elibeth", I had this conversation with her:

Claire:  My name is Elibeth.

Me:  Elibeth? (Purposely saying it how she does, instead of correctly.)

C:  No, Elibeth.

M: Your name is Elibeth?

C:  NO...ELIBETH!

M:  Elibeth?

C:  NO, Mommy...my name is E.L.I.B.E.T.H! (saying it very slowly)

M:  I know, your name is Elibeth.

C:  NO, ELIBETH!!

M:  I've never heard of the name Elibeth.

C:  Not ELIBETH, mommy, E.L.I.B.E.T.H!!! (as if slowing down the mispronunciation - again - would make me understand)

M:  Hmm...well, can I just call you Claire?

C:  (Looking a bit annoyed with me) Yes, you can call me Claire.  I was kidding, I'm not Elibeth anymore.

M:  Okay, if you're sure.  I will call you Claire now.

I'm such a great mom for torturing her in to giving up on the name. :)

It's nice to have our Claire back.

It's in the eyes...

When me and Marty started having kids I was excited to see how our genes would come together.  We figured our kids would have a lot of the same characteristics and follow the same "mold" as I call it.

We have been VERY surprised at how differently our genes have come together to create 3 incredibly different and incredibly beautiful girls.  I guess we're all just a family of misfits. (Recessive genes RULE!)

But if you'll look closely, you'll notice that there is one trait they seem to have all gotten.  It's personally my favorite one...the eyes.

Everybody loves a blue eyed girl!

The Girl Formerly Known as Claire

When I was about 12 I decided that my name wasn't working for me and that I wanted to go by something else.  I was very creative and decided to give Cami a try.  This lasted all of 30 minutes before I realized that I didn't like it.  Luckily the name hadn't stuck and it was a smooth transition back to Camille.

Now...before you get offended, I like the name Cami...it's half of my own name.  I even liked it enough to give it a try.  But it just doesn't fit me.  Just like I don't think I look like a Gertrude or Betsy...I just am not a Cami, I am a Camille.  It makes sense in my own mind, so don't worry about it.

Apparently Claire follows in my shoes.  Today she informed Marty that because she is now 3, she would prefer to go by Elizabeth (her middle name) and that she was no longer Claire.  If you said, "Hey, Claire", she was quick to say "I am NOT Claire, I'm Elibeth." (her version of Elizabeth)

Because I had went through a similar phase of wanting to switch my name, I just laughed and took a video.  But then I realized that this is the same girl who has been obsessed with Batman for almost 8 months without wavering and I began to worry a little that she would not let this one go either.

Here she is on video, because it's cute how she says "Elibeth", and also because what 3 year old decides to go by their middle name?

(Please excuse her crazy hair...she had piggy tails, took them out, dumped water on her head and "brushed her own hair"...please also excuse her eating, it was her lunch time.)
I wonder if she'd let me call her "The girl formerly known as Claire."
I'll have to give that a try later.

I feel a change coming on...

This is a map of South Korea.

It is where Marty was set to be going in about 1 month from now for a year without us.

We received a more updated map of his location today:

In case you are confused, Marty will NO LONGER be going to Korea!!

I will give you a second while you re-read that.

...........

Can you believe it??

For some reason we were granted our miracle we've been praying our guts out for.

Marty's orders to Korea were cancelled!!  I cannot even tell you how happy I am that we will not be separated for that year.  (At least for now. I am not too naive to believe that he will never be deployed.)

When I wrote this post a month ago, I could not have even imagined what a drastic shift our lives would make in a short amount of time.

We have been told where they are putting orders in for us, but until we get clearance (there has to be an eye specialist within a certain distance) and see those orders in our hand it's not guaranteed.  So, for now we're keeping it on the DL (down low...a.k.a. we don't want to jinx it.)

Today is most definitely a VERY happy day!
