Brielle's 1st Grade Program

Brielle had her 1st grade "end of year" program a week before school got out.  She had been talking about it a lot, and how excited she was for me to come and see it.  Following Brielle's specific directions, I got there 15 minutes early and sat on the right side in the front row so I could see her the best.  I just love that she is so on the ball (that's what I tell myself...sounds nicer than bossy.)

I was only able to snap a few pictures (I had one hand holding the video camera and the other trying to use the regular camera...made for some wobbly video work as well.)  but the ones I got were great.  I love that Brielle sang right to me the whole time and hardly ever looked over at the teacher...probably should have encouraged her to watch the teacher, but I didn't.

So, here are the pictures!
The stage...Brielle's picture is the one on the bottom row, left picture.

The program ended up being a little over an hour long, with a LOT of songs and props.  (I'm sure glad my dad was willing to watch the little girls so I didn't have to deal with them getting restless.)  I was impressed that the teacher put that much work into it, and that all the kids really did a great job.

Now let the summer fun begin!

Random Thoughts

*Some of these random thoughts are old Facebook statuses, so sorry if it's a repeat*
**********
Apparently my feet are having an identity crisis.  You see, I am now the lucky owner of Plantar Fasciitis...which I hear is most commonly found in active adult males ages 40-70....which I am none of.
And can I just say it has been a total party so far?

**********
I would bet that properly located gas bubbles account for a large portion of home pregnancy test sales.

**********
I have decided to stop working towards buying a house.  Instead I'm going to buy a puppy.  They're much less expensive, way cuter, less stressful, easier to acquire and a much smaller commitment.
**********

And some KID FUNNIES!!

Every time I take the kids to swimming lessons at the rec center Claire says "Hey, you could do that and lose weight today mom" as we walk past the workout rooms.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

**********
One afternoon, Brielle walked in the door from school and plopped down on the couch.  She said, "I am SO hot!  And not on my legs, just on my top.  The part that's closer to the sun.  Which is probably why it's so much hotter!"  Totally makes sense.

**********
Sometimes Claire will go over to my sister's house to play with her son.  But when my sister calls me laughing to report a conversation she overheard, I get a little afraid.  For instance, she told Joel "The way my mom drives, you're always afraid she's going to crash into something."  As well as "I was afraid to wake up the parents one night {yes...the parents} because they get mad, so I just pooped in my bed."  Which is not true.

**********
I was playing with Molly and wiggling her feet while telling her how precious she is. Then Addison walked up to me, pointed her stern little finger in my face and said, "Mom!  Leave alone, just leave her alone! Okay?" Hmm...I wonder if she hears that very often.

**********
Claire has informed us that she sings EXACTLY like Selena Gomez, and swears that when she sings along to her songs on the radio, you cannot even tell the difference because her voice just blends so well.
The similarity is just uncanny.

**********
Marty came out of the bathroom after shaving and cleaning up his facial hair, leaving a goatee.  Brielle seemed surprised at how he looked and said, "How did you get a beard?  Did you put hair grow stuff on your face?"

**********
Favorite overheard moment one morning, Claire: "Daddy, remember when I told you last night I loved you with half my brain? Well it grew overnight and now I love you with all my brain and all my heart."

**********
Claire watched a show that had a song "Into the Thick of it", however she misunderstood and has been walking around singing "Into the Thicklebitz".  I kind of don't want to correct her, because it's just so dang cute!

**********
My dad was outside working on his garden area, and using a shovel to remove some grass to expand the garden.  Addison - a.k.a. his shadow - was watching him as he jumped on the shovel to cut the grass and cheered, "Wow!  Good jumping Grandpa!  That's good jumping!"  It's nice to have your own personal cheerleader.

**********
A few weeks ago, Brielle's jacket went missing. After a few days of looking for it, she brought one home from school, saying she found it on the playground. Imagine my surprise when I found an identical jacket tucked into the basket of our stroller a couple of days ago...which means she totally took someone else's jacket from school. Oops.

Antelope Island - A Hidden Gem

So I've lived in Utah for...oh...my whole life (minus the time spent away in Texas and Washington) and for some odd reason, I always forget about Antelope Island.

We decided to head out there on a whim a little while ago, and it is really kind of fun!  The kids loved wading around in the water (which was warm and only a few inches deep) and seeing a buffalo.  Pretty much all we did, but it was still fun.

I did find myself standing there at one point thinking, "This is really pretty.  Why do I always forget about this place?"

Without further ado...here are a ton of pictures.
You're Welcome!
The best group shot we could get at the Visitor's Center

Then Brielle starting a "posing frenzy"...which turned out quite entertaining.

Jumping off the curb...thrilling isn't it?

It was a bit chilly outside, so we had our picnic in the car.  Addison thought she was pretty hot stuff sitting in the front seat.

Heading out to the water.

Addison was unsure about the sand at first, but quickly got over it.

Finally made it to the lake!

It was about this deep everywhere, which was perfect for the little ones.

Brielle was the first to discover a sink hole with really nasty dark mud in it.

Addison's goal was to catch that "duck" (seagull) and chased it all over the beach.

Claire unfortunately found a BIG sink hole and sunk all the way up to her bum  with one leg.  She wasn't happy, and that ended the trip.

After all the fun, I went to get the girls cleaned up in the shower area (I did think ahead and brought clean outfits for them all) just to find out that you could either pay to use a shower stall, or use a tower where the water sprayed over the kids head, which made washing their legs impossible.  So I did the next best thing and took them all into the girls bathroom, took off the muddy clothes and cleaned them up in the sink.  It was awesome.

All in all it was a great little outing and the girls LOVED it.  Definitely something we'll have to do again.

Girls 2012 Pictures

Well, now that Mother's Day is over and I've given these pictures to the grandma's, I can put them on the blog. :)

I know that kids get their "school pictures" every year, but I just don't really love them.  So I always try to take my own yearly pictures.  Obviously I've been slacking a bit, seeing as Addison is 2 1/2, but I FINALLY got the updated pictures of the kids.

In my defense, I try about once every couple weeks but it just doesn't usually go so well.  Someone will make crazy faces, someone else will have just fallen and has a fat lip, someone will be grumpy etc. etc., but miraculously I got all the girls on the same day, happy and cheerful, free of scrapes and fat lips just in time to get them for Mother's Day!

I can't believe how big my girls are all getting!
Enjoy the pictures!
