Summer Fun - Week 2

So, here we are again...another week of summer down.  This week we:  Painted nails, watched Black Stallion, Went to the Pet Store (and didn't bring anything home), went to The Sweet Tooth Fairy bakery, enjoyed our free 7-Eleven Slurpee on 7/11, rode FrontRunner, had a Water gun fight, were surprised by a "Heart Attack" on the garage door, and Played with our cousins from St. George.  It was a good week, and the girls were so great about being flexible with our activities on days when things were just too crazy.

Painted Nails



Pet Store
I was very proud of the girls for obeying me and not asking for every animal we saw.  They did mention how much they would love a puppy/bunny/fish/bird/hamster/lizard, but didn't ASK for me to get one.

The Sweet Tooth Fairy/Free Slurpee
At Sweet Tooth Fairy, a woman approached me and said:
Lady:  You have all girls?
Me:  Yep. [expecting a comment like everyone else makes: I'm so sorry, Good luck with that, Better you than me etc.]
Lady:  Oh, you are so lucky!
Me:  [Surprised] Oh...that's one way to look at it.
Lady:  When you get to be my age, you will be SO grateful for all these girls, because they will make a fuss over you and be great friends for you.


Thank you nice lady!  I really did need to hear it.
And now the pictures we took once we got home.

FrontRunner
Addison has a new obsession with trains, so we knew this would be a great activity.  She has talked about it non-stop.  We rode from Farmington up to Ogden and back...it was a LONG time on the train (didn't realize we'd have to wait in Ogden for 30 minutes before it started going back south), but the kids were good.

On the big bridge walking over the tracks to get to the train. 

It was a balmy 103 degrees, so we found the only shade there was and sat down.
We didn't tell them to sit like this either, they just did it all on their own. 

The two biggest hams there are.  They make some great faces for pictures.

These pictures would be a few of the attempts at getting all the kids to look at me for a good picture inside the train.  As you can see, that didn't go so well.

 When we got to Ogden and the train cleared out, the girls used the aisle as a "catwalk" and put on a little runway show, stopping in front of me to pose for the camera.

I asked Addison if I could take her picture.  She pretended to fall asleep.

Water Gun Fight
This day, our plans had to be flexible.  (Life is that way lately.)  I told the girls to go play outside for a little while before I needed to be somewhere.  When I went to see what they were up to, I found them out there having a water gun fight.  I'm so glad they made their own fun this day!
(And by the way, isn't my parent's yard GORGEOUS?!)

She prefers drinking the water...don't worry, they were filling them up with house water.

Heart Attack
We live in the best ward here with my parents.  There has been a lot of stress and roller coaster emotions lately involving my brother's battle with cancer.  One morning, we found this on our garage door with some sweet notes from neighbors.  We feel SO loved!

Next week has some fun activities planned as well...let's hope we can accomplish it all!

The Dangers

The dangers of having 3 older sisters:

I left the room for just a minute to change the laundry.  When I came back, Molly was wearing these bunny ears, and holding the baby monitor while the older girls stood in her room talking and singing to her through it.

Being the youngest of 4 girls could be an interesting life for Miss Molly!

Summer Fun - Week 1

Summer Fun - Week 1
This week, we went to the park, made GAK, had a family BBQ/water party to celebrate the 4th of July, hit the library, enjoyed some Krispy Kreme, and saw the movie Brave!  
FUN WEEK!  
Here are pictures of a couple of the activities.

Making GAK

This was SO fun, and kept the girls occupied for hours.  We put it in a bag, and they came back later in the day to play with it again.   It was still good by the end of the week, and they have gotten it out a few more times as well.  AWESOME time occupier!

Family BBQ/Water Party/4th of July
(This REALLY could - and should - be a post by itself...but I'm too lazy.)
We went over to my brother and sister-in-law's house for a little get together.  The kids had SO MUCH FUN running around the huge yard, and we enjoyed visiting on their nearly completed deck as well.  I took over 80 pictures of this little party...so consider yourself lucky that I am only posting this many!

 Krispy Kreme

This day ended up being crazy (took Addison to the doctor for swimmers ear thanks to all the water parties) so Marty ended up taking the 3 older girls when he got home from work and was kind enough to take these pictures with his phone.  He said Addison was being a huge ham the whole time.

Brave
While going to a movie theater isn't typically free or cheap (as I had said I was aiming to achieve), we had a sweet hookup that made it fit the bill.  I personally thought the movie was GREAT.  My girls really liked it, but did think it was a bit scary in parts.  I will agree with that...it got a little intense at times.  In fact, both Claire and Brielle screamed at one point and grabbed my arms, and Addison started asking to go home.  But all in all, great movie.  We even got away without buying any concessions by sneaking goodie bags in (shhhhh...don't tell).

Even though this was just Week 1 of our summer fun, I have to say it's going well and helping us not sit around staring at each other wondering what to do.  The girls (Brielle in particular) ask every morning what's on the calendar, or go see for themselves.  It also helps to be a GREAT motivator for them to get chores done.

Here's hoping week 2 is as fun!
