This is getting RIDICULOUS!

I really try to keep my blog and everyday life free of whining...but today I'm going to just have to break some rules.  Because I want to whine a little!

Me and the girls have now been in Utah for 7 weeks.  SEVEN weeks.

And nope...Marty still isn't here and we have NO idea when he will be.  Silly us, thought that when they said "all his paperwork is completed and signed, he should have orders within a few days" that it would actually happen and we'd just get here a short time before he joined us.

Seriously.  This is beyond ridiculous at this point.

On top of  basically being a single parent (yes I'm with my parents...no, they have a life so they aren't raising my kids for me), still working part time in the evenings after I manage to get kids in bed, my horrible hip pain setting in, being lonely, bored, broke and living in limbo, I also found out I'm a high risk pregnancy.  So to say I'm emotionally and physically exhausted would be an understatement.
(The high risk has to do with the fact that Addison's c-section required a different incision point...so I now have TWO scars that could rupture.)

I also hate that Marty is missing out on our every day life, and that until he gets here we are just completely stuck and can't decide or figure out anything.  There's just a lot up in the air.

It is VERY frustrating to say the least.

So, I'm trying to just plug through a day at a time, but some days I really just want to take a mental health day and run away.  I just keep hoping that TODAY will be the day we get some sort of answers. But so far, no such luck.

Here's to tomorrow I guess?

Claire's First Day of Preschool

I know...two posts in one day, sorry...but I had to also post about Claire's preschool.

Claire FINALLY got to go to her first day of preschool today.  She has been very anxiously waiting this day and constantly asking how many more days until she got to go.

In fact...she woke up about 45 minutes earlier than she normally does, insisted on eating breakfast, getting dressed and getting her hair done with Brielle (who wakes up early for school) and at 8:30 was sitting there completely ready to go to preschool...unfortunately her preschool is in the afternoon at 12:45.  She still had a long wait ahead of her.  Thankfully we were watching my sister's son this morning, so he came and they played which helped pass the time.

I have to admit I was a little sad about her going.  Why do they have to grow up so fast?  This is her first year of preschool - there weren't really any good options for her last year where we were living - so realizing next year she goes to Kindergarten is just crazy.  She will do great, and I know she'll love it!

Here are some more pictures from today:

Apparently the "sun was too bright" in front of the house.

"Aren't you excited for preschool and to call Daddy after to tell him about it?"

That's a little better

Not sure what she's doing here...I think squealing with excitement.

"Want to do some poses?"

At the preschool getting ready to go in.
I think all the other kids/parents taking pictures and walking around made her a little nervous.

Inside the classroom.  Contrary to how she looks in this picture, she was excited and fine with me leaving.  Again...all the kids and parents walking around was a bit overwhelming to her I think.

So...she's off!  And miraculously enough, she goes to school at the same time as Addison naps, so for three days a week I will have a quiet house for a couple hours in the afternoon (until baby #4 arrives).  I don't know what I'll do with myself!  Probably something really productive like play on the computer or watch TV Court shows.

Good luck Claire!  We sure love our little Batman girl!

Choking Hazard

You know how listed on many packages are words along the lines of "Choking Hazard, Keep Away From Children" and usually you look at that and think...how in the world is my child going to choke on a Happy Meal toy from McDonald's...I mean really, they're going to try to stuff that Smurf down their throat?
I don't think so.

Well, apparently the warning needs to be for adults as well.  Why you ask?  Let me tell you the predicament I found myself in yesterday while doing an every day activity using an everyday item.

I was innocently sitting in the bathroom doing Addison's hair.  Just as I ALWAYS do, I was holding her tiny plastic hair elastic in my teeth so that when I was holding her hair with one hand, I could use my teeth and the other hand to stretch the elastic out to get it ready for putting it around a pony tail.  (If you do not have daughters...this may not make sense to you.  Those with daughters know exactly what I'm talking about.)

As I was sitting there combing her hair with the elastic in my teeth, I suddenly became victim to a violent sneeze attack (not uncommon for those with Campbell genes...I have NEVER sneezed just once).  Without having a moment to think, I gasped between sneezes and inhaled the elastic straight down my throat.

I gagged for a while, trying to either swallow it down or cough it out, but it was lodged.  No matter how hard I coughed, or how much saliva I swallowed...it wasn't moving.  And can I just say that having an elastic stuck in your throat isn't the most comfortable feeling I've experienced?

My life flashed before my eyes as I wondered if this was how I was going to go.

Death by elastic.

Finally the elastic came dislodged from my throat and I had survived the whole ordeal...but it was a close one.  Poor Addison had just stared at me the whole time with a look of horror, saying "Okay mommy?  Okay?"

Unfortunately for me, the dislodging was not voluntary as my gag reflex kicked into full gear and up came my delicious peanut butter cheesecake brownies I had for lunch...which are not as delicious coming up.

From now on, hair elastics will be waiting safely on the counter until the exact second I am ready to put it in the children's hair.

Missing Daddy...

The last few days have been rough on the girls.  They are really missing their daddy.

Claire seems to be missing him the most...or at least vocalizing it the most.

We had our first official "melt down on the web cam" last night.  We were saying goodbye to Marty and Claire just started sobbing, begging him to come here now.  Six weeks is a LONG time for little kids to be missing their daddy...especially when we originally thought it might be a week or two apart.

Brielle came up with the genius idea that he should take his computer screen off and we would take ours off and he could jump through and end up here.

If only it were that simple.

Unfortunately for Marty, Claire went ahead and threw another dagger in his heart today.  She took a pretty nasty fall and after she started settling down wanted to talk to Marty.  We called him and she told him what happened, then started crying and said, "Daddy, you need to come soon."

Heart breaking!

Anyway.  Today me and the girls were working on making a little something to mail a good friend of ours who is deployed.  As we took pictures for him, the girls all agreed they wanted to do one for daddy as well.
(And who am I to refuse taking more cute pictures of my kids?)

We all sure love and miss him and just keep hoping and praying all the "glitches" and "setbacks" will be resolved and he can come home soon!
